What is concrete?

Concrete slabs are an essential construction element used in building. A concrete slab is a thick, flat and horizontal concrete layer, which can be used as a floor or as roofing. Concrete slabs are employed to build the ground flooring in some homes. They can be placed directly on the ground or to support the foundation.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete installation can be difficult if your skills and knowledge are not sufficient for the job. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors use a strict concrete slab-installation process that is in line with codes and standards of the industry.

Safety is our first priority for us in all of our concrete projects. Prior to beginning any project, we ensure that we are properly outfitted with safety gear. We wear gloves long sleeves as well as rubber boots and gloves to protect our eyes. These all help to keep us safe from concrete splashes which can harm our overall health, and our overall health.

We follow these steps as well.

Step 1: On-site Preparation

We use the same process regardless of whether we're working on a small slab or a huge project. Cleaning the area is the initial stage in all of our projects. We remove all trace of contamination to allow us to begin fresh. As part of our preparation, we ensure that all materials are present on the site. We plan the delivery of the materials prior to the actual project. This allows us to start and complete the work in time.

Step 2 - Create concrete forms and strengthen concrete slabs with steel

Once the site has been cleared and prepared, we will proceed to the installation of concrete forms made with wire mesh. Concrete forms are solid barriers that hold the concrete mix in place. Concrete forms force wet concrete to take on a particular shape or form. Concrete reinforced by rebar is available for larger structures. This makes concrete surfaces stronger.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

We use a concrete truck to make things easier. It is also useful in ensuring concrete materials are mixed properly. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. However, in the majority of cases, we use an concrete mixer.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

After mixing concrete, we pour the concrete into the forms. To prevent air pockets, we carefully apply the concrete mix. Air pockets arise from too much mortar not being placed over the aggregate. As we pour concrete, we ensure that we spread the mix throughout the form - never missing a single spot.
